Stony Brook beats Central Connecticut 38-9
STONY BROOK, Ill. (AP) Stacey Bedell ran for three touchdowns as Stony Brook opened its season with a 38-9 win over Central Connecticut on Saturday.
Bedell finished with 133 yards and ran for two touchdowns in the first half to help the Seawolves (1-1) to a 17-6 halftime advantage. Joe Carbone threw for 109 yards and ran for a pair of touchdowns.
Carbone ran for a score midway through the third quarter and Bedell scored his third TD on a 25-yard run with 3:19 left in the quarter to make it 31-6. From there, Stony Brook cruised to the win, capping the victory with a second Carbone touchdown with 4:26 to play.
Stony Brook had 479 yards in total offense and held Central Connecticut to just 27 yards rushing and 120 yards overall.
Jacob Dolegala finished with 93 yards and a touchdown for the Blue Devils (0-2).
