Stanford football has some big time visitors at Stanford Stadium

In preparation for Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, the Denver Broncos are practicing at Stanford Stadium this week.

The Broncos arrived at Stanford on Monday and will use the Cardinal facilities throughout the week.

There is a strong connection between the Broncos and Stanford. Former Broncos Hall of Fame QB John Elway, who is now the Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager of the Broncos, played at Stanford.

Stanford sophomore running back and Heisman Trophy runner-up Christian McCaffrey is familiar with the Broncos as well. His father, Ed, played wide receiver for the Broncos with Elway.

In fact, as a young child, Christian McCaffrey once scored a touchdown at Mile High Stadium during halftime of a Broncos game.

Stanford had a fantastic 2015 season, capped by a 45-16 victory in the Rose Bowl against Iowa. Maybe practicing at Stanford will bring the Broncos good luck against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
