Spurrier describes the genesis of his visor love
The Ol' Ball Coach is known for rocking a very famous visor. It truly has become a staple of Steve Spurrier's dating back to his early days as the head coach of Duke. One has to wonder, how did he start the habit in the first place?
Spurrier recently did an interview with Golf Channel personality David Feherty. He explained where he initially wore the headgear, as well as why he opted for it over a traditional hat.
It began during his time in at Duke. The visor was a means to combat the hot and sticky weather down in North Carolina.
Spurrier also rocks the visor as a means to make his bouts of anger go more smoothly. If he were to throw a visor, it would theoretically receive less grass stains compared to that of a hat toss. Visors are also generally easier to toss.
As one can see, the complexities of the visor are significant to South Carolina's head coach.
