Source: Tulane expected to fire head coach Johnson following season finale

Tulane coach Curtis Johnson is expected to be fired after Friday's game against Tulsa, a source told FOX Sports on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old Johnson, a former New Orleans Saints assistant, is 15-33 since taking over at Tulane in 2012, and just 6-17 the past two seasons. In 2013, Johnson did lead the Green Wave to the New Orleans Bowl when Tulane went 7-6.

NBC New Orleans reports that former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is expected to be a candidate if deputy AD Barbara Burke becomes AD.

Two other potential options for the Tulane coaching vacancy are LSU associate head coach/RB coach Frank Wilson, a New Orleans native, and Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, who was instrumental to James Franklin’s success when they got Vandy turned around.

USA Today was the first to report the news of Johnson's firing.
