Source: Michigan's pursuit of Jim Harbaugh is headed to the Bay Area
The Wolverines are apparently paying a visit to Jim Harbaugh.
Michigan brass will be in the Bay Area this weekend as part of the pursuit of the current San Francisco 49ers head coach and Michigan alum, a source told FOX Sports college football insider Bruce Feldman on Friday.
Several reports have emerged in the past two weeks claiming Michigan has already made Harbaugh an offer or that the two sides already have a deal, but both Feldman and FOX Sports NFL insider Mike Garafolo say that's premature.
Speculation on Harbaugh's future has run rampant all season as the 49ers -- whom he has led to three straight NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl -- have struggled and reports have emerged that Harbaugh's personality is beginning to wear on team execs.
If Michigan bosses will be in the Bay Area this weekend, so will Harbaugh. San Francisco (7-8) has been eliminated from playoff contention this season and hosts the Arizona Cardinals in their season finale on Sunday.
FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer said on Sunday's edition of FOX NFL Sunday to expect a decision on Harbaugh's future with 24-48 hours after that final game.
Michigan certainly isn't being shy about its desires, sending out a very loud tweet the other day in honor of Harbaugh's birthday.
The Wolverines went a dismal 5-7 this season, prompting them to fire Brady Hoke after four seasons on the job that failed to see any progress in restoring the program to its lofty standards.
