SMU player accused of sexual assault

Southern Methodist University football player Brandon Henderson was arrested Thursday for an alleged sexual assault on a child, the Dallas Morning News reported Friday.

Henderson, a sophomore linebacker for the Mustangs, was arrested in Dallas County and is awaiting transfer to Taylor County, where the alleged crime was committed. His bail was set at $50,000.

Dallas, Texas-based SMU has not commented on the situation, citing student privacy laws. Henderson's status with the team is unclear.

Henderson, 20, played in 12 games as a freshman last year. SMU is 2-2 this season and plays at Rice Saturday night in a Conference USA matchup.
