Several SEC players make CFB Matrix's preseason All-American team
Thursday May 21, 2015 became a monumental day in the lives of college football fans, as Dave Bartoo's CFB Matrix released their first digital college football preview for the 2015 season.
For those unfamiliar with CFB Matrix, the website has come into popularity due to their accurate ability to predict results of college football games months in advance. Using a method of spreadsheets and advanced statistical formulas, CFB Matrix is quickly becoming a go-to source for predictive results.
That being said, the site has a number of SEC players in their preseason All-American lists for 2015.
Ole Miss lead the way with four selections, Alabama was next with three, followed by Texas A&M and LSU with two a piece and Tennessee, South Carolina, Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia and Florida all had one.
Here are the SEC players that made the list:
First team preseason All-Americans on offense:
Mike Matthews - center: Texas A&M Aggies
Vadal Alexander - guard: LSU Tigers
Laremy Tunsil - offensive tackle: Ole Miss Rebels
Evan Engram - tight end: Ole Miss Rebels
First team preseason All-Americans on defense:
Robert Nkemdiche - defensive tackle: Ole Miss Rebels
Reggie Ragland - linebacker: Alabama Crimson Tide
Vernon Hargreaves - cornerback: Florida Gators
JK Scott - punter: Alabama Crimson Tide
Second team preseason All-Americans on offense:
Nick Chubb - running back: Georgia Bulldogs
Second team preseason All-Americans on defense:
Derek Barnett - defensive end: Tennessee Volunteers
A'Shawn Robinson - defensive tackle: Alabama Crimson Tide
Jonathan Jones - cornerback: Auburn Tigers
Tony Conner - safety: Ole Miss Rebels
Third team preseason All-Americans on offense:
Leonard Fournette - running back: LSU Tigers
Third team preseason All-Americans on defense:
Chris Jones - defensive tackle: Mississippi State Bulldogs
Fourth team preseason All-Americans on offense:
Pharoh Cooper - wide receiver: South Carolina Gamecocks
Fourth team preseason All-Americans on defense:
Myles Garrett - defensive end: Texas A&M Aggies
That's 17 total All-Americans coming from the SEC on the four preseason All-American teams. If CFB Matrix's past work is any indication of their predictive ability in the coming months, expect most of these players to ultimately land on various All-American lists at the end of the season as well.
