SEC Football Week 9 Preview and Predictions

Here we preview each SEC football game this weekend and predict who think will win. There are four big SEC football matchups this weekend.

We might not have the ranked SEC football games like we did last weekend, but there is still a lot on the line in week 9.

There are four SEC matchups and two out-of-conference games against teams.

Let’s take a look at each of these matchups and see what’s on the line.

Kentucky at Missouri – 11 a.m. – SEC Network

This game actually has a lot of implications for the SEC, as it’s looking like a lot of teams will struggle to become bowl eligible.

Kentucky is in the best shape out of the teams in the bottom of the conference to reach six wins, but they have to beat Missouri this weekend in order to do so.

Missouri has shown no signs of life recently, but maybe they can find some magic at home this weekend.

Mark Stoops has the Wildcats playing good football this weekend, and for the sake of the SEC I hope they win.

Prediction: Kentucky – 34 Missouri – 21

Florida vs. Georgia – 2:30 – CBS

This game does not have the hype that it should because Georgia has been terrible this year, while the Gators are just a quiet team in general.

The Gators have Luke Del Rio back at quarterback and a lot of play for as they currently control their destiny in the SEC East.

You know Georgia would love nothing more than to knock Florida out of the SEC Championship game.

Both are coming off bye weeks so you expect them to be fresh. I just haven’t seen anything from Georgia this year to tell me they’re ready to beat Florida.

I expect the Gator defense to make things very difficult for Georgia, and Del Rio will do just enough to give Florida a big win.

Prediction: Florida – 27 Georgia – 17

Samford at Mississippi State – 2:30 – SEC Network

Don’t sleep on Samford here, they are a very good team and could give Mississippi State some trouble.

For the sake of Dan Mullen and Mississippi State, I hope they come out and win big in this one – as they should – but don’t be surprised if Samford gives them a scare.

Of course now that I say that you can bet Mississippi State will win big.

Prediction: Mississippi State – 41 Samford – 23

Auburn at Ole Miss – 6:15 – SEC Network

Here is my preview and prediction of this game:

One thing I didn’t mention in the preview is Auburn trying to avoid an early storm from Ole Miss. The Rebels have come out hot in some of these games, and Auburn has yet to face adversity on the road this season.

They’ll need to survive the storm and not get overwhelmed if they fall behind early.

Tennessee at South Carolina – 6:15 – ESPN2

More from Fly War Eagle

I’m not sure why this game is getting ESPN treatment over us and Ole Miss, but whatever.

This could be a sneaky good game though if Tennessee comes out flat like they have been. They’re coming off a bye week so I would expect them to come out ready to play.

South Carolina has the defense to limit Tennessee and stay in this game. Their offense looked much better with Jake Bentley, but that was against UMASS.

This is another game that could come down to the wire.

    Prediction: Tennessee – 31 South Carolina – 27

New Mexico State at Texas A&M – 6:30 – ESPNU

This is a game you can take to the bank, I guarantee you the Aggies are going to win…

In case you don’t know, both teams are the Aggies, but I can still pretty much guarantee you Texas A&M will win this game.

They’re coming off a disappointing loss to Alabama, but this is still a very good football team. Look for them to get back on track this weekend against New Mexico State.

    Prediction: New Mexico State – 13 Texas A&M – 49
