Richt preaches patience to five-star UGA QB commit Eason

While Georgia may have let go of a good coach Sunday, they let go of an even better man. The latest example of Mark Richt's class and dignity was on full display Monday, as he was joined by the school's athletic director Greg Garity for one last season-ending press conference in Athens.

Richt was appreciative of everything the school had done for him and even continues to be working toward bringing home the national title so coveted by the fan base by recruiting for the team he will soon no longer be coaching.

Richt was asked to discuss his recent trip to Washington state to see committed quarterback prospect Jacob Eason, considered by many to be the top overall prospect in the nation at his position.

“It was definitely my decision to make that trip," Richt said.

"If you’re curious of the message I’m giving those guys, and I talked to Jacob last night as a matter of fact, I said ‘Be patient. See who the next guy is. You might get really excited about that and the rest of the guys might get really excited about that. I’m not saying don’t check out other options and all that kind of stuff to be proactive. Don’t jump the gun. You chose Georgia for a reason and it was more than just me or Coach (Brian) Schottenheimer.’"

It appears Georgia may never truly leave Richt's heart, even if he's no longer the head coach past the team's bowl game.
