Richie Brown named SEC Defensive Player of the Week

Mississippi State's big win over Auburn was fueled by their defensive effort and now linebacker Richie Brown has been individually honored as the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the win. 

The 17-9 result was a historic loss for Auburn, as the game marked the first time in Gus Malzahn's tenure at the school, either as head coach or as an assistant, in which the Tigers failed to reach the end zone. 

After securing their first league win of the season, the Bulldogs travel to College Station for a significantly more powerful offensive attack under Kevin Sumlin. In case you've forgotten, Brown recorded three interceptions against the Aggies last season.
