Results of Fantasy Picks in Week 3 of the NFL Season
Fantasy results week 3 in the NFL.
Week 3 of the NFL season brought us all sorts of interesting stories. Terelle Pryor plays quarterback again, and Belichick can win no matter who his quarterback is. The interesting story lines didn’t stop there however as the fantasy world was filled with other interesting stories such as the day Trevor Semian had for the Denver Broncos.
Well, let’s take a look at my picks from last week and see how they turned out.
Neither quarterback I recomended had a very good week as the Raiders defense stepped up and held Marcus Mariota to a small day. And when I say small, I mean non-existent. Mariota threw for over 200 yards, but he also turned the ball over 3 times, once via fumble and twice through the air, mustering a mere 7.76 fantasy points.
Blake Bortles also had a rough weekend throwing for 194 yards, falling short of 300 for the first time this season. Bortles also turned the ball over 3 times, all through the air, while throwing for 2 touchdowns and totaling 14.46 fantasy points.
Melvin Gordon only rushed for 35 yards on 16 attempts for one touchdown Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. He also added 4 receptions for 43 yards good for 17.8 fantasy points.
More from Scarlet and Game
It is important to note though that Gordon was on the field for 51 snaps at running back for the Chargers and Dexter McCluster’s only 6. It is clear the Chargers are putting the backfield workload on Gordon’s back, which gives me faith in him for the future.
My next pick at running back was Cowboys back Ezekiel Elliott. Although he didn’t score, Zeke still had a big night and put up solid fantasy numbers.
Elliott rushed for 140 yards and added 2 receptions for an additional 20 yards. That garnered 21 fantasy points for the former Ohio State star.
The first receiver I recommended last weekend was Miami Dolphins pass catcher Jarvis Landry. Landry took advantage of a depleated Browns secondary, catching 7 passes for for 120 yards and a touchdown. Landry also added 16 rushing yards, totaling 29.6 fantasy points on the week.
Allen Robinson was the second pick at receiver. Although Bortles did not have a very good week passing, both touchdowns he threw were to Robinson. The 7 passes Robinson caught only netted 57 yards but his two touchdown receptions allowed him to rack up 24.7 fantasy points.
