Report: Purdue RB found dead in lake

Authorities in northern Indiana recovered the body of Purdue running back Sean Matti in a lake, WLFI-TV reported Tuesday.

Matti, 22, was last seen swimming in Lake Freeman by friends, who had gathered for a party about 25 miles from Purdue's West Lafayette, Indiana, campus.

Matti's friends spent about six hours looking for him, then reported him missing at 11:30 p.m. local time Sunday night.

Authorities said Matti and others at the party were drinking. Searchers used divers, dogs and a plane all day Monday in search of Matti.

Matti was a senior walk-on who had never appeared in a game for the Boilermakers. He walked on in 2007 after starring at local Roseville Area High School in Shoreview, Minn., also setting a school record in the discus for the track team.
