Report: Prosecutors don't charge Diddy with felony assault, battery

Los Angeles Country prosecutors have declined to charge Sean "Diddy" Combs with felony assault and battery on a UCLA intern and an assistant football coach during an incident last month at the school's athletics facility, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The L.A. city attorney will reportedly now decide whether Combs' actions constitute a misdemeanor.

Combs was arrested on June 22 for an alleged assault involving a weight-room kettlebell, a university statement said.

The incident reportedly occurred after Combs' son, Justin, was kicked out of a workout at UCLA by Sal Alosi, the team's strength and conditioning coordinator. Justin Combs is a redshirt junior and defensive back for the Bruins.

Sean Combs and Alosi then reportedly became involved in a confrontation that lead to the rap star's arrest.

University police alleged three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery, according to a UCLA statement.

A representative for Combs had said that he was defending himself.

"We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter," Combs' attorney Mark Geragos said, via the Times. "This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with."
