Report: Navy QB could fly into Heisman ceremony via helicopter

Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds might not be the most high-profile Heisman candidate this year, but if he gets the big invite to the ceremony in New York, he apparently will have the coolest entrance by far.

The Heisman presentation ceremony will take place at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 12. The only issue is that Reynolds and the No. 23 Midshipmen (9-2) are scheduled to play Army (2-9) in Philadelphia at 3:30 p.m ET. Assuming the game lasts anywhere from three to four hours, it would be a tough task to drive from Philadelphia to Manhattan in time for the presentation. So should Reynolds get the invite, he reportedly will fly in on a helicopter.

"If we get him out of there by 7 o'clock and the game is over by 6:20 or 6:30, he should land in time," Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk told CBS Sports. "How dramatic would it be if he walks in even when the show is underway? He comes walking down with his Navy blues on. 'Excuse me, fellas. Sorry I'm late,' and he sits down."

According to CBS Sports, the plan would be for two helicopters to pick up Reynolds and a party of nine after the game, then embark on a 30-minute flight to NYC, where they would settle in on a landing pad that is 1.3 miles away from their destination.

Reynolds is the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns in the FBS, while his 1,093 rushing yards are the most of any QB in the country, ranking 36th nationally.
