Report: Iowa's Robinson to transfer

Troubled Iowa running back Adam Robinson, who was dismissed from the team in December, has decided to seek a transfer from the university, The Des Moines Register reported late Tuesday.

Robinson, who led the Hawkeyes in rushing last season, had been suspended from the team since last December for undisclosed reasons. A marijuana charge on the eve of the team's bowl game led to coach Kirk Ferentz's decision to dismiss him indefinitely.

"All I can say now is that he's exploring his options," said Robinson's mother, Sally Robinson. "We don't know where he will be enrolling, but he will be someplace, hopefully in time for summer school."

When asked about Robinson's status last month, Ferentz said his number one focus was to see him do well academically.

"We'll see where he's at at the end of the semester, and we'll go from there," Ferentz said, according to The Register.

Robinson, 22, will have one year of eligibility remaining after sitting out one season should he choose to transfer to another Division I school. He can play immediately if he decides to attend a school in a lower division.

Robinson led the Hawkeyes with 941 yards and 10 touchdowns last year.
