Report: David Robinson's son running for Notre Dame student body prez

Notre Dame football takes up a lot of Corey Robinson's time, but the junior receiver told the school's newspaper it would not prevent him from serving the student body if he is elected president.

The Observer reported Tuesday the Fighting Irish wide receiver has a little more than two weeks to convince his fellow students he is fit to lead the student government.

Robinson said they will run on a platform of “open communication and a shared vision” to represent the student body, “the real power of the University — students are Notre Dame.” Additionally, he said he would like to develop a more “creative and innovative space” at the University if he were elected.

Election day is Feb. 10.

Robinson, the son of NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson, anticipates being able to devote most of his non-football time this spring and fall to potentially being student body president because he already has nearly all the credits he needs to qualify for his undergraduate degree in liberal studies. He has even added a business economics minor to prolong his undergrad career.

Robinson signed with Notre Dame in 2013 as a four-star prospect from San Antonio. He caught 16 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown last season.
