Report: Auburn needs to replace new Toomer's Corner tree
Auburn reportedly will be replacing one of the new trees at Toomer's Corner.
According to AL.com, Auburn said that the 35-foot-tall oak tree, which was transplanted in February, was not generating new roots.
The tree was one of the two replacements for the previous Toomer's Corner oak trees, which were poisoned by now-notorious Alabama fan Harvey Updyke in 2010. Updyke confessed to the crime on the Paul Finebaum radio show and ended up serving six months in prison.
The Toomer's Corner trees are a part of one of Auburn's most famous traditions, as students roll the trees with toiler paper in celebration of big wins.
