Receiver Corey Coleman can be one of nation's best

If Baylor's quarterback play is anything like it was a season ago, receiver Corey Coleman could end up as one of the best in the country.

Coleman had 64 catches and more than 1,100 yards receiving last season, but he missed the first three games of the year – all of them blowout, non-conference wins.

"I was really heartbroken. Having to sit out three games really took a toll on me," Coleman said to ESPN. "I just stayed faithful to the man upstairs and bounced back even better than I was supposed to be."

Petty completed 71 percent of his passes to Coleman, so now Coleman has to make sure that same chemistry is working with new quarterback Seth Russell.

If that happens maybe some of the honors and accolades that eluded Coleman a season ago will be there in the end this time around.

"That's fine," said Coleman to ESPN. "I don't need no hype."

Coleman was passed over for All-Big 12 in 2014, despite averaging 37 yards per catch on his 13 touchdowns. He had 12 catches for 154 yards against Iowa State and was one of just six receivers in the country who averaged more than one TD per game.

"He definitely has the opportunity to be the best and he can be," teammate Spencer Drango said to ESPN. "It's up to him."
