QB Luke Falk leaves with injury as Cougars fall to Portland State in season opener
This was not the start the Washington State Cougars were looking for. After leading at halftime 10-0, the Cougars allowed Portland State, an FCS school, to come back and win the season opener 24-17.
Worse news for Washington State is that quarterback Luke Falk had to leave the game late in the fourth quarter after he dove for a first down. Falk landed on his left shoulder and did not return to the game.
Peyton Bender, Falk's replacement, came into the game and promptly through an interception, which sealed the game for Portland State.
There is no update on Falk's status.
