QB Johnson paying respects to fallen friend with jersey number change
Heading into his senior year, Auburn quarterback Jeremy Johnson is offering a special tribute to a friend in the form of his uniform.
In 2011, Johnson's high school teammate Fred Davis passed away in an automobile accident. As a member of Carver High School in Montgomery, Ala., Davis wore No. 1.
On Tuesday, Johnson took to Instagram to announce he will switch from wearing No. 6 in order to wear Davis' No. 1 in 2016.

The heartfelt message relayed by Johnson speaks about honoring Davis with his play. The last member of Auburn's team to wear No. 1 was former receiver D'haquille "Duke" Williams.
