QB Chad Voytik to transfer from Pitt
Pitt junior quarterback Chad Voytik, the Panthers' leading passer in 2014, has decided to transfer for his final season. Voytik is scheduled to graduate this spring and can potentially play at the FBS level next year.
“Chad has been a tremendous leader and teammate during his Pitt career, and certainly during the year I had the opportunity to coach him,” Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said in a statement released by Pitt. “We wish him the very best and will help him any way we can as he maps out his future pursuits. We will always consider him a Pitt Man. His contributions have been invaluable to what we are building here.”
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Voytik threw for a team-high 2,233 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2014, but was beat out by Tennessee transfer Nathan Peterman, who threw for 2,287 yards and 20 TDs this year.
Voytik, who completed 16 of his 24 attempts for 112 yards and one score in 2015, said he was thankful for the opportunity to play at Pitt in a statement released by the school.
"I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to attend and play for the University of Pittsburgh,” Voytik said. “I am blessed to have met some amazing people along the way: teammates that I'll always be friends with, coaches that made me a better player and person, and fans that offered a tremendous amount of support. Pittsburgh will always be my second home."
