Purdue fires head football coach Darrell Hazell

Another coach is out at a Power 5 program, as Purdue has fired head coach Darrell Hazell, the school announced Sunday.

Purdue's wide receiver coach Gerad Parker will take over head coaching duties in an interim capacity.

The move doesn't come as much of a surprise, as the Boilermakers have struggled since Hazell took over the program prior to the 2013 season and have failed to improve under his watch. Overall, Purdue went just 9-33 under Hazell and never won more than one Big Ten game in a season. The team is 3-3 this season and 1-2 in Big Ten play. They are coming off a 49-35 loss to Iowa on Saturday.

Purdue is the second Power 5 school to fire this coach, following Les Miles' departure at LSU a few weeks ago.

Ironically, Miles' name has already been thrown around as a possible replacement in West Lafayette by some outlets.
