Purdue finalizes Brohm as grid coach at $3.3M a year

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) Purdue trustees have approved a six-year contract for incoming football coach Jeff Brohm.

Board members' action Friday pays Brohm $3.3 million in 2017. That includes a $300,000 university salary and just over a $3 million supplemental stipend.

Additionally, Brohm is eligible for incentives totaling $1.3 million if the Boilermakers meet academic and performance guidelines which consider team grade-point average, graduation success, Big Ten division and conference rankings and post-season bowl-game participation.

Brohm comes to Indiana from Western Kentucky. He posted a 30-10 record there from 2014 to 2016 - including 19-5 in the Conference USA. The Hilltoppers were league champions the last two seasons. That's the first time in Western's history as a Football Bowl Subdivision member.

Purdue is coming of a 3-9 season.
