Planning for success: Slowing Texas' running game will be key for Texas Tech

The college football world will be relatively slow on Thanksgiving eve, unless you're a football fan in the state of Texas. The Longhorns take on the Red Raiders on Turkey Day, and Tech has a unique opportunity going into the game.

Texas Tech has a real shot to beat its in-state rival, as the Longhorns are down this year and the Red Raiders have one of the most explosive offenses in the country.

"I think it sets a unique opportunity to play on Thanksgiving night in front of the entire country at a place you haven't won in a long time," said Kingsbury, whose team had a bye last Saturday after playing 11 straight games. "If you can't get up for that after having an extended period off, you're probably in the wrong sport."

Texas has won nine of the last 10 contests against the Red Raiders, and Tech has a golden opportunity this Thursday night.
