Pinkel not thrilled about being carried off field in home finale

In what was Gary Pinkel's final home game as head coach of the Missouri Tigers, his team went down to Tennessee by a score of 19-8.

One victory away from bowl eligibility, it was a tough loss for Mizzou. Signal-caller Drew Lock struggled against the staunch Volunteers' defense, and the ground-game never was able to get on track.

While the Tigers would've loved to celebrate a victory, they did honor their head coach by carrying him off the field. As Pinkel recounted the act on Monday, he wasn't overly happy with how it went down.

"Honestly, I kind of wish I was out of it," said Pinkel. "I felt bad the other night, a couple players came over and picked me up and took me off the field. That was very nice of them to do it, but I'm grumpy."

Surely, Pinkel was appreciative of the gesture. However, it could've been a case of Pinkel not wanting the full attention on him -- but rather on the game and his team.

Regardless, the head coach is a beloved figure within the greater Columbia area, and will go down as one of the best coaches to hail from the university.
