Peyton Barber declares for the 2016 NFL Draft

On the final day for college football players to declare for the 2016 NFL Draft, Auburn running back Peyton Barber made the surprising decision to leave school and enter the draft. Barber emerged as the Tigers best option out of the backfield in 2015, despite facing competition from several highly rated recruits during fall camp.

Barber rushed for 100 yards or more in five of the first seven games of 2015 but was slowed by injury during the second half of the football season. Barber was a redshirt sophomore in 2015.

For the season, Barber finished with 1,016 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground and had an additional 112 yards receiving after 11 receptions.

Judging by the second half of the 2015 season, the Tigers backfield will likely be manned by Jovon Robinson, who began to shine in his first season with the team, with Roc Thomas serving as his primary backup in 2016.
