Peppers, Lewis lead Michigan's Big Ten postseason award winners on 'D', special teams

Jabrill Peppers and Jourdan Lewis were two of the most prominent faces on Michigan's dominant defense all season, and both were honored Monday night by the Big Ten.

Lewis, a junior cornerback, and Peppers, a redshirt freshman who played all over the defensive backfield, were both named to the All-Big Ten first team, joining Desmond King of Iowa, Vonn Bell of Ohio State and Will Likely of Maryland in the secondary.

Lewis tied for the Big Ten lead in passes defended with 21, a total that included two interceptions.

Peppers had 10 pass breakups and was also a force on special teams and all season while becoming a greater factor for the Michigan offense toward the end.

He was fifth on the team with 45 tackles, including 5.5 for loss.

Peppers finished the regular season third in the Big Ten in kick return average (27.9 yards) and ninth in punt return average (11.4).

The New Jersey native also carried the ball 18 times for 72 yards and two touchdowns and caught eight passes for 79 yards.

Lewis had 49 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and a sack.

End Chris Wormley (coaches) and kicker Kenny Allen (media) were named third-team All-Big Ten while linebackers Joe Bolden and Desmond Morgan, punter Blake O'Neill, safety Jarrod Wilson and linemen Royce Jenkins-Stone, Ryan Glasgow and Willie Henry all received honorable mention.

The conference plans to announce the offensive all-conference players Tuesday.
