Penn State loses LB Wartman-White to season-ending injury

Penn State lost more than its season-opener against Temple on Saturday.

Head coach James Franklin told reporters after the Owls' 27-10 win over his Nittany Lions that junior linebacker Nyeem Wartman-White was lost for the season to an apparent knee injury.

Wartman-White was a starter at outside linebacker last season moving to the middle this year to replace All-Big Ten MLB Mike Hull, who graduated.

A 6-foot-1, 243-pounder playing in his hometown of Philadelphia, Wartman-White went down in the first half.

He entered the year second on the team in career tackles with 108.

Another linebacker who left the game with an injury, Brandon Bell, is week to week.

Franklin also said sophomore cornerback Grant Haley, a projected starter who did not play.
