Pat Narduzzi will defer to Pitt AD when it comes to Backyard Brawl

Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi knows the importance of rivalries, telling Jerry DiPaola of Trib Total Media that his Panthers will "embrace future and past rivalries."

However, when asked about renewing the classic rivalry Pitt once had with West Virginia—nicknamed the "Backyard Brawl"—Narduzzi remained non-committal.

"That's something the new AD will have to answer," Narduzzi told DiPaola. "We will have those conversations when he gets here and with chancellor (Patrick) Gallagher, as well."

A later report by DiPaola named Utah State's Scott Barnes as Pittsburgh's next athletic director. A decision to renew the Panthers' football rivalry with the Mountaineers could be one of the first things to come across his desk.
