Oregon's starting QB spot remains a mystery

Oregon QB's not named Vernon Adams Jr. have combined for seven touchdown passes so far this season. Adams threw seven touchdowns in one game against Washington just last season. Needless to say, the Ducks have issues at QB.

Adams has been sidelined for the past 11 quarters as he recovers from a broken right index finger. When asked if Adams will play this week against the Huskies, head coach Mark Helfrich once again would not answer the question. Instead, Helfrich provided an update on how Adams has looked in practice.

“Good. Similar,” Helfrich said after Thursday’s practice, according to The Register-Guard. “I would say similar to the last couple weeks, but good. I think it’s just kind of a gradual progression of confidence kind of thing.”

As for how Helfrich may use backups Jeff Lockie and Taylor Alie should Adams be unable to go again, the head coach said the coaching staff is comfortable with how each should be used.

“I think we have an idea,” Helfrich said of who the starter will be. “Certainly from a package standpoint, a schematic standpoint, I think we know where we are. We’ll keep that internal.”
