The Ole Miss vs. Florida State football game will bring a great opening weekend of college football. We provide the injury report and impact for both teams.

Coach Jimbo Fisher met with the media on Saturday after Florida State wrapped up practice before heading to Orlando to take on Ole Miss.

Fisher said the team has a good week of practice and a good day at practice on Saturday. The team was able to get their practices despite Hurricane Hermine.

He addressed some injuries to the team in the video below and the full Florida State injury report is below.

      FSU Injury Impact

According to Jimbo Fisher, starting center Alec Eberle will play a lot. We questioned earlier in the week if that would be the case since Florida State had been allowing true freshman Andrew Boselli to take first team reps there.

If Eberle is able to play effectively, that would certainly bode well for FSU’s chances against the Ole Miss defensive line that’s the strongest part of their team.

Derrick Kelly will start at in the place of Kareem Are at left guard. Kelly has starting experience prior to getting injured last season, so that shouldn’t be too big of a concern there.

Rick Leonard will make his debut on the offensive line at right tackle. We’ve heard he’s very physical in the run game, but his pass protection could be suspect at times. It will be something to keep an eye on.

Nate Andrews being questionable isn’t a huge deal as the secondary is extremely deep with talented players.

It’s doubtful that George Campbell would have seen much action if he were healthy.

Coach Fisher did say that Sean Maguire could play if he had to even though he’s listed as questionable.

        Ole Miss –

Our FanSided Ole Miss site only expects Fadol Brown to make an appearance from the names that appear on this list.

However, it looks like he’ll only be able to play about 20-30 snaps which could be huge as he’s a force for their defensive line.

          Conclusion

If Jimbo Fisher is being truthful and Eberle is fine, that’s the biggest positive for Florida State. Anytime you can play an experienced veteran over a true freshman on the offensive line, it’s usually a positive.

As we’ve discussed all week, the defensive line for Ole Miss is their strongest unit, so having Eberle in there to make all the calls will be big.

Also, having Sean Maguire in there as an option is a positive moving forward.

Other than these injuries, Florida State goes into the opening game relatively healthy. They’ll play Charleston Southern next week, so that will give Kareem Are an additional week to deal with the concussion issue.

We look forward to a great game on Monday night, be sure to join us when the game tips off at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
