Ole Miss vs Alabama: Will the Rebels Wear Powder Blue Uniforms?

This weekend will present one of the biggest matchups all season, Ole Miss vs Alabama. What will the Rebels and the Tide wear on Saturday?

On Saturday two powerhouses will collide in Oxford, MS. Ole Miss vs Alabama, one of the biggest matchups all season for both teams. While Ole Miss has been Alabama’s daddy the past two seasons, Gumps all around are confident in their team this weekend.

Why wouldn’t they? They defeated a heavily overrated USC team and the powerhouse Western Kentucky. But on to the uniforms.

Alabama will most likely continue to wear their boring crimson and white away uniforms.

Ole Miss has announced that they will wear their regular home attire, the navy helmet, navy top, and grey bottom.

While this is the officially announced uniform for the game, I imagine the Rebels have a little something up their sleeve.

Ever since Ole Miss released their schedule for the season, they have told fans to wear powder blue to the game. These color suggestions usually align with what the team is wearing.

While having the whole fanbase wear powder blue and having the team wear navy is the ultimate Ole Miss move, I don’t think it happens here.

This would not be the first time that Ole Miss announced a uniform and then surprised everyone with a new one. In 2010 the Rebels warmed up in their normal home uniform, and then came out of the locker room wearing the worst uniform I have seen in Ole Miss history.

Bo killed it in the garbage bag look, but the team gets destroyed every time they wear it.

In 2014, the Rebels announced they would wear a special helmet for Chucky Mullins against Memphis. They warmed up wearing this special helmet and then arrived for the game wearing the powder blue helmets. This was the first appearance of the powder blue helmet in the modern Ole Miss era.

So the idea that Ole Miss could come out of the warmups wearing a special uniform against Alabama is not unprecedented. Here is what one fan thinks the uniforms might look like.

To be honest, I don’t hate it. The look could be pulled off, but Nike has to be careful here. You can easily screw this up and then you look like a cheap MAC team.

Ole Miss has to make sure to match the helmets and the uniform as well. This should not have to be said, but I feel like I need to say it.

Either way, the game should be fun. I think that Ole Miss will indeed debut a new powder blue uniform tomorrow against Alabama. If they don’t do the uniform, at least expect a powder blue lid for the game.
