Ole Miss line adjusting to life without Laremy Tunsil

Ole Miss was dealt a huge blow to their offensive line last Saturday, as it was revealed their most talented player up front, Laremy Tunsil, would be sat for "precautionary" reasons. The team's right tackle spoke to the Clarion Ledger about finding out Tunsil's status last week.

“I was surprised,” Fahn Cooper said. “I didn’t know the magnitude of the situation, how serious it was, but I still don’t really. We’re all just kind of playing it by ear.”

Cooper is now being asked to be left tackle in Tunsil's absence.

“I had played left (tackle) a little bit during the week, just some shades in practice, and Thursday I was taking all of the one reps. I figured I was going to be the one to go on Saturday.”

How long the Rebels can afford to take the field without their best lineman remains to be seen. With the trip to Alabama looming in a week, Ole Miss will certainly need all the help they can get to beat the Tide in consecutive years. However Cooper doesn't seem very concerned just yet, as the Rebels have built quality depth across the line.

“I definitely feel like we have enough depth to compensate for the loss of Laremy Tunsil,” Cooper said. “I definitely feel like this year with the offensive line that there’s more depth than we’ve ever had, definitely compared to last year. In the spring we only had 10 guys. We’ve definitely got a lot of guys that can play and a lot of guys that are hungry to compete, so I feel like we’re definitely good.”
