Ole Miss Football: Revenge on the Mind of Rebels

Ole Miss was embarrassed last year by losing to Paxton Lynch and the Memphis Tigers. The Rebels are out for revenge this year.

Saturday, October 17, 2015 was not a pretty day for the Ole Miss Rebels football team. They were flat out embarrassed by a team from the American Athletic Conference,

Memphis.

For those that are unfamiliar, Ole Miss and Memphis have a little bit of a rivalry going on between the two athletic departments. Ole Miss doesn’t really want to play Memphis in football and Memphis really doesn’t want to play Ole Miss in basketball.

So when the two teams play each other, there is no love lost between the two schools.

Ole Miss has no business losing to Memphis in football. In today’s game, Hugh Freeze recruits much better than Memphis and should beat them every year.

I have no doubt that Freeze has heard from plenty of his Memphis friends about the game over the past year. After all, he did spend many years in the Memphis area as a coach at Briarcrest Christian School.

This game will mean a lot to not only Freeze, but also many other Rebels who are from the Memphis area. Last season at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium was a flat out embarrassment. Coaches, players, and fans all felt terrible after that game.

On Saturday night, Memphis won’t have Justin Fuente calling the plays or Paxton Lynch making the throws. Nonetheless, Ole Miss will have Memphis circled and will not take them lightly again.
