Oklahoma DE on the SEC: Why is everyone ‘constantly blowing gas up their ass?’

Tuesday brings yet another member of the Oklahoma Sooners downplaying the SEC in the week leading up to playing at Tennessee Saturday night. This time it's defensive end Eric Striker taking exception to anything and everything involving SEC bravado.

Striker spoke to reporters about the SEC following Tuesday's practice, the full interview can be found here courtesy of Sooner Scoop.

Yeah man, I don't understand why people constantly blow gas up their ass. All the time, I don't understand.

I look forward to it because I like to prove people wrong. I love that, you say this about your opponent, they got this, they got that, but what you don't understand is you gotta get it done in between the lines. That's all that matters.

I look forward to it, gas 'em up, bring them back down to earth

Striker proved to be a force for the Sooners last season against Tennessee, as the defensive end had six tackles, two behind the line, and was constantly blowing up the Vols' game plan. But that game was in Norman, Okla., and Tennessee's offensive line play has improved significantly this that time. In fact, tackle Kyler Kerbyson won the first SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week award for his efforts against Bowling Green.

These comments are only going to fire up Rocky Top all the more Saturday night. Striker had better be ready to back up his words otherwise he'll be leaving Neyland Stadium finally understanding the SEC hype.
