Obama has message for Harbaugh, Michigan after heartbreaking loss

Jim Harbaugh spent the first day of Michigan football's off week doing something he got into the habit of during the offseason: Making news off the field. 

In this case it was with a trip to Washington, D.C., where the Wolverines coach talked with President Barack Obama. 

Per The Detroit News, Harbaugh went to the nation's capital to appear with First Lady Michelle Obama at an event designed to raise awareness for higher education. The message Harbaugh received from her husband:

Obama told Harbaugh it "was a tough way to lose a football game,” the coach said. The pair also talked about mutual friends. “(Obama) told the fellas to keep their chin up and him and Michelle were watching the game and likes the way our team played and told our guys to keep it going.”

Harbaugh himself described the Wolverines' last-play loss to Michigan State on Saturday as "a brutal way to lose a football game" but said the team will not "let the sadness get in the way of the way we are improving." 

And in secondary news, TDN reports Harbaugh ditched his customary khakis in favor of a blue suit. 

He also expressed his feeling that the First Lady is "awesome" and called her "a very good recruiter."
