Notre Dame's KeiVarae Russell will practice, Ishaq Williams won't

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says cornerback KeiVarae Russell will take part when the Fighting Irish begin practice on Friday while defensive end Ishaq Williams will not.

The two were among five players held out of practices and games a year ago while the school investigated whether homework and papers they turned in had been completed by others. Kelly says Notre Dame feels confident the NCAA will rule Russell eligible, saying he did everything necessary. Kelly described the process with Williams as "ongoing." Kelly says he doesn't expect the rulings to take much longer.

Kelly also announced that sophomore defensive lineman Kolin Hill of Schertz, Texas, plans to transfer to a school closer to home. Hill played in nine games last season and had seven tackles.
