Notre Dame WR Fuller: Zaire is a better leader than Golson
There are certain things former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson does better than the Fighting Irish’s first-year QB Malik Zaire, apparently leading is not one of them.
Fuller, a rising junior who led Notre Dame with 76 receptions for 1,094 yards last season, told 247Sports that he felt Zaire was more of a leader than Golson, who transferred to Florida State this summer.
“He knows he can put the ball wherever it needs to go. His confidence is real good for our offense,” Fuller told 247Sports. “He’s a lot more vocal (than Golson). Talks a lot more. I think he’s a better leader than Ev.”
Fuller said Zaire’s energy has had a positive effect on the team.
"It’s real great," Fuller told 247Sports. "And I believe it’s the same thing with every other receiver, because he’s real outgoing and he gets us all out there throwing on a daily basis. We’ve been throwing a lot.
"I feel like some of the guys never had a leader like that. He’s a real emotional guy, so I think it really surprises some of the guys and gets them more of that Malik boot. I think he’s doing a great job leading the offense."
