Northwestern's QB battle is far from over

The Northwestern Wildcats face the tough task of replacing Trevor Siemien who got drafted last weekend by the Denver Broncos. The signal caller finished his career ranked fourth in program history in passing yardage with 5,931 yards. 

There has been a three-man race to be the next guy and so far it is neck and neck. Here is what ESPN had to say about it:


"This spring brought a three-man battle between senior Zack Oliver, sophomore Matt Alviti and freshman Clayton Thorson. Alviti and Thorson appeared to edge out front, but at least officially, it's still a dead heat going into summer drills. The Wildcats open against Stanford, so whoever wins the job must hit the ground running."

With the other young talent on the team, notably running back Justin Jackson, the Wildcats will need someone to protect the football and keep the chains moving. If the defense returns to normal Fitzgerald form, this could be a sleeper team in the Big Ten West.
