No rest for Huskies during bye week as USC looms

Fall-term began for Washington on Wednesday, meaning players practiced in the morning before heading to classes.

So far this season, the Huskies have been focused on football exclusively. Now, they'll have to split up their time. Thankfully for the Huskies, school begins during a bye week. The coaches seem to be happy about that fact, especially with USC approaching next week.

“This is a big week for these guys,” UW defensive backs coach Jimmy Lakesaid, according to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times. “Where I do think we have an advantage is they were able to work just on football for the last month and a half, two months, so it’s not all at once football and school. So now, this really works out perfect because we have a bye week. So now they’re starting class on a bye week, we’re still practicing, but there’s not a game here in the next couple of the days.”

The Huskies travel to Los Angeles next weekend to play their former coach, Steve Sarkisian, and the Trojans.

The Huskies began to prepare for the Trojans on Wednesday.

“Very talented receiving corp,” Lake said of USC, according to Jude. “Obviously, you’ve got a senior quarterback (in Cody Kessler) who can lead the way for those guys. They’ve got good running backs. They’ve really got skill everywhere. Their offensive line’s big. They really have a great scheme."
