Newton, Fairley: Not thinking about NFL draft

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton and defensive tackle Nick Fairley say they didn't submit their names to the NFL Collegiate Advisory Committee to evaluate their draft status.

Newton, the Heisman Trophy winner, said Wednesday night that ''I don't think we've got around to that'' and that he's not focusing on the NFL decision. Both players are juniors.

Asked if he had made up his mind, Fairley said ''I haven't even thought about it.''

The junior All-American and Lombardi Award winner is projected as a potential top 10 pick if he skips his senior season.

Newton and Fairley have led the top-ranked Tigers to the BCS national championship game against Oregon.

They'll have until five days after the Jan. 10 game to declare for the draft.
