Nebraska Football: Devine Ozigbo Doubtful For Indiana Hoosiers Game

We’ve known the Nebraska football team was going to be without Cethan Carter and Jordan Westerkamp next week, but it appears the backfield is going to be a bit thinner depth wise as well.

During Monday’s post-practice press conference, Husker head coach Mike Riley talked about his rather banged up team. While the week off helped players like Alonzo Moore and Tommy Armstrong rest up, Westerkamp, and Carter are still missing practices.

Another player that the Nebraska football team had hoped would be able to use the weak to heal up hasn’t made the strides they hoped he would. Running back Devine Ozigbo didn’t practice at all last week and it’s now looking extremely doubtful he’s going to be playing against Indiana.

The good news is, the Nebraska football backfield has been leaning on its depth for most of the season. Newby and Ozigbo have been splitting time and splitting carries for the first five games. Mikale Wilbon and Tre Bryant have been seeing action as well.

It would seem then, that the backfield is well prepped to try and fill the hole Devine being out will make. The real problem is that even if the Huskers are confident about being able to fill that hole, the offensive holes are beginning to pile up at a quite impressive rate.

No matter how well the team has played at times during the first part of the season, Indiana is a team that might make Husker fans nervous. The fans of the Nebraska football team have watched one former opponent after another get exposed by the rest of their opponents.

Indiana gave Ohio State a very good game. Now being without the team’s best bruising back is going to pose new problems to Mike Riley and company on Saturday.
