Murray St. 42, SE Missouri 35
Duane Brady returned a kickoff 85 yards for the winning touchdown with 2:55 to play as Murray State capped a frenetic fourth quarter by defeating Southeast Missouri State 42-35 Saturday in the season finale for both teams.
The return was the second of the game for the Racers (5-6, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference), who led 14-3 in the second quarter following Walter Powell's 100-yard punt return.
After Powell caught a 14-yard TD pass from Casey Brockman to put Murray State up 35-21 with 12:45 remaining, the Redhawks (3-8, 2-6) tied it with 3:07 left on TD runs of 12 yards by Levi Terrell and 8 yards by Ron Coleman.
Brockman threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns and ran for one score, but fell 10 yards short of reaching 10,000 for his career. With 3,802 yards total offense, he broke the OVC single-season record held by Samford's Ray Nelson (1994).
