Mora on Rosen: 'We're trying to help him grow at the right pace'

Josh Rosen looked borderline flawless in his UCLA debut on Saturday vs. Virginia. UCLA coaches are also making it their goal to make sure he looks good off the field, too.

One strategy they are using to make this plan more effective is to limit his interview availability. For example, rather than place Rosen on a podium for post-game interviews, Rosen instead was sidelined to individual reporters with cameras and microphones.

According to the Los Angeles Times, coaches felt a podium was too "high profile" for the young quarterback.

"No one is trying to keep him down," said Mora, in the report. "We're trying to help him grow at the right pace."

Mora also touched on the "intense" demands of UCLA, explaining how many people are in place to help protect a young star like Rosen. The story also mentions that UCLA reached out to Miami to see how the Hurricanes handled their true freshman quarterback, Brad Kaaya, last season.

"We want to help Josh be successful," said Mora. "And not set him up for failure."
