Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M Game Time Announced

Mississippi State will host Texas A&M on November 5, 2016.

Kickoff has been set for 11:00 AM Central time. The game will be broadcast by ESPN or ESPN 2 or SEC Network. We won’t know the exact channel until Sunday but it’s an 11:00 AM kick for sure – the third time in three meetings with A&M at DWS since they’ve joined the SEC we’ve had a morning kick.

Our maroon brethren have a lot of tradition and some confusing language they use. Here’s a guide:

Midnight Yell – every Friday night before a football game a group of Aggies will start practicing their cheers. They will sing some songs and do other Aggie stuff. This includes road games. Two years ago they did it in Ridgeland (I don’t know why).

Reveille – this isn’t just a dog mascot. No, this is the first lady of Texas A&M. The “most powerful dog in the world”. She is the highest ranking of the Corps of Cadets.

Good Bull – an Aggie who conforms to A&M traditions. Conversely, “bad bull” would be an Aggie acting like a normal fan.

Hullaballo, Caneck! Caneck! – I just can’t picture an actual human saying this but if it happens I warned you.

Whoop – it’s a big privilege to be able to say “whoop”, you have to be an upperclassman. I picture it like this:

Wildcat – Aggies have a name for the hand motion they do after each yell, and this is it.

Spirit of Aggieland – the last thing we want to see are Texas A&M players swaying with their arms around each other, smiling because they just beat us, and singing their alma mater.

So there is your crash course in Aggie lingo. Maybe you’ll run into a couple of them at the game saying these things.
