Mississippi State vs. LSU Point Spread Announced

The Week 3 game between Mississippi State and LSU will be on September 17th at 6:00 on ESPN2.

Mississippi State opened as a 16 point underdog vs. LSU.

This will be the Bulldogs’ first trip to Baton Rouge since the epic 2014 game that catapulted them onto the national scene and started their accent to No. 1.

The 2014 win at LSU is still one of those moments when you step back and say, ‘did we really do that’?

Yes, we did. The Bulldogs went down to Baton Rouge on a Saturday night in the valley and beat up on the Tigers. That mere fact is impressive, but the additional weight of 14 straight losses to LSU and 11 straight in Tiger Stadium makes it even more so.

Mississippi State dominated from the get-go. They took a 17-3 lead into the locker room at halftime, but then fumbled around (literally) and allowed LSU to score a touchdown early in the 3rd quarter. At 17-10 the Tigers had some signs of life but Dak Prescott ended that with a thrilling 56 yard touchdown run that was replayed over and over and over for the rest of the season.

State went on to increase their lead to 34-10, and ultimately captured a 34-29 victory. The ensuing highlight video from Hail State Productions was one of the best all year.

Both MSU and LSU come into this game at 1-1. The Bulldogs are 1-0 in SEC play while this will be the Tigers first conference game of the season. Last year’s game came down to a field goal at the end which Mississippi State missed, losing 21-19.
