Mississippi State loses starting safety Kendrick Market for the season

Kendrick Market's collegiate playing career has apparently come to an end, as the senior safety tore his ACL against Texas A&M Saturday night, according to head coach Dan Mullen. 

“Unfortunately that’s probably his last play of his career,” Mullen said Monday. “It’s a shame.  You never know what it’s going to end. He's a young man that’s done so much.”

With the loss of a key contributor in the back end of their defense, defensive coordinator Manny Diaz and his secondary will need new players to step up into larger roles moving forward. 

"All the safeties’ roles are going to have to increase,” Mullen said. “He’s a guy that you wanted to play every snap of the game and everybody else rotate.”

After finishing dead last in the SEC in pass defense in 2014, the Bulldogs currently rank seventh after five games with Market in the lineup. Can they keep it up without the senior's presence?
