Michigan State's McDowell recognized for outstanding play

Michigan State got a monster game from Malik McDowell against Maryland, and the Big Ten noticed. 

McDowell, a sophomore tackle for the Spartans, was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after he notched 4.5 tackles for loss against the Terrapins in a 24-7 win. 

The first-year starter also had a half sack and forced a fumble while finishing with eight tackles overall.
