Michigan QB Shane Morris not going to let anyone take starting job from him
By Andrew Holleran
Shane Morris is generally thought of as the leader in Michigan’s starting quarterback competition, but we’re likely months away from a starter being determined.
The Wolverines junior doesn’t plan on letting anyone take that job away from him, though.
Along with Morris, freshman Alex Malzone, redshirt freshman Wilton Speight, freshman Zach Gentry and fifth-year senior Jake Rudock are battling for the spot under center. Rudock, who transferred to UM from Iowa, is likely Morris’ biggest competition. He came to Michigan to play, after all.
Morris isn’t worried, though.
"He came here to take my job and I'm just not going to let it happen," Morris said of Rudock via ESPN's Dan Murphy.
That’s a pretty confident statement. We like that kind of attitude from quarterbacks.
Michigan opens its season Sept. 3 against Utah.
