Michigan moving players around on defensive line

Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin avoided confirming if potential starting defensive tackle Bryan Mone suffered an injury during the Wolverines preseason camp, but he did praise a potential replacement Monday.

“A great thing about our team right now, when you go through camp, is that we’re building depth at all positions," Durkin told reporters via transcript from MGoBlog. "That's what this time of year is for is find where we’re strongest at and where our depth is and so I think across the board you've done a good job of that. We've developed some guys and we've got depth at all positions.”

Reports of Mone being lost for the season because of a broken ankle surfaced about two weeks ago. If healthy, the sophomore would be in the mix to start on the interior line after playing 12 games with one start last season.

His absence could clear more time for Maurice Hurst, a junior from Massachusetts who stood out in the Michigan spring game.

"Mo is definitely part of that depth up front and he can play all the spots, too," Durkin said. "Really he can play inside (or) outside, so he's a guy we’re counting on. He'll play a lot for us.”

Later, Durkin said players have moved around on the line during camp and mentioned Chris Wormley, Mario Ojemudia and Willie Henry as options who could play multiple spots.
